Ketchikan, Alaska July 26, 2009

This was the sunrise as captured by Jody the morning we were docked in Ketchikan, Alaska.

These were some things that seemed to capture the spirit and lifestyle of the people that lived here. The dog in the truck was soo cute.

The town was quaint with the gorgeous mountains behind it.

In each town that we visited in Alaska they had hanging baskets everywhere. They were filled with all different combinations of plants - but the containers themselves were almost all wooden. That was very nice!!

LUPINES!!!!!!!

Moss covered so much in Alaska! I love moss!

Huge Dahlias like I saw in Vancouver!

And Foxglove.. I felt like I missed this Spring like so many other Springs in Atlanta - because we are so busy then - and then here - in July I got to see Foxgloves!! :)

Geranium..

More Dahlias

This hanging basket had lotus vine.. which you can see is the orange/red blossom down front with the silver/gray foliage..we can grow that here in Atlanta..briefly in early to mid Spring .. like some fuschias...it was nice to see what it could do when planted a bit longer..

Spiraea

Fireweed... An Alaskan native flower...it is used to show that summer is changing to fall by it's color change from pink to white...

Lupines!!!
